Lithgow to Uluru Itinerary

Thus is what we are planning to do

Saturday 21st June (Day 1)

Drive from Lithgow to Cobar – 562 km (7 hours 10 minutes)

Stay at Cobar Caravan Park, Barrier Highway, Cobar (02 6836-2425).

In 21st June, out 22nd June (1 night). No bookings, need to arrive early. Aprox $34/night to pay.

Sunday 22nd June (Day 2)

Drive from Cobar to Broken Hill – 458 km (5 hours 16 mins)

Stay at Broken Hill City Caravan Park, Rakow St (Adelaide Rd), Broken Hill. 1800 803842. In 22nd June, out 25th June (3 nights). Booked powered site $38/night. $114 for 3 nights to pay.

Monday 23rd June – Tuesday 24th June (Day 3 & 4)

Wednesday 25th June (Day 5)

Drive from Broken Hill – Port Augusta – 412 km (5 hours 2 minutes).

Stay at Big4 Holiday Park, Corner Highway 1 & Stokes Terrace, Port Augusta 1800 833444. In 25th June, out 26th June (1 night). Booked powered site $33.30/night, already paid.

Thursday 26th June (Day 6)

Drive from Port Augusta – Coober Pedy 550 km (6 hours 28 mins)

Stay at Big4 Holiday Park (Oasis Tourist Park) Hutchison St, Coober Pedy

Monday 30th June (Day 10)

Drive from Coober Pedy – Uluru 746 km (8 hours 57 minutes)

Stay at Ayers Rock Campground, Yulara Dr, within Ayers Rock Resort 08 8957-7001 In 30th June – out 4th July (4 nights). Booked powered site $42.50/night) Reference: 200803431), total $170 to pay for 4 nights.

Tuesday 1st July (Day 11)

See Ayers Rock at Sunrise, spend the day at Ayers Rock.

Drive from Uluru – Kings Canyon – 130 km (1 hour 30 minutes) if we can go via Larapinta Drive, through the West MacDonnell National Park, linking into the new gravel Mereenie Loop Road (4WD recommended); otherwise 300 km (4 hours).

Stay at Kings Canyon Resort Camp Ground, Luritja Rd, Watarrka National Park 1300 134044. Booked powered site $47/night. $94 for 2 nights to pay.

Drive from Longreach to Nardoo Sheep & Cattle Station, Cunnamulla 723 km (8 hours 20 minutes)

    No, not British. You must be Australian, I believe. All the geography you describe is unknown to my ignorance…so you drive on the wrong side of the road too? (I have a TERRIBLE sense of humor: no offense meant nor sugested!!!)

    Maybe the rotation of the earth, down there below the ecuatorial belt, provoques this things: like water on the sink rotates the other way than above Ecuator…or it is just another expression of freedom !

    Very good maintenace description, and I am an official certified VW mechanic (left the VW mexWerke in 1969, free-lance since then) I enjoy your blog A LOT !!!

    Shirl is in EXCELENT hands, and what a beautifull country you trek…thanks for sharing, photos and all.
